The united nations was set up to prevent another World War from happening. The president of the United States at the time created the 14 points as an outline for freedom and peace for as long as humans walked the earth. Among these 14 points included free trade, freedom of the seas, outlawing alliances, and disarmament. The league however would have never met these standards for a couple of reasons. Firstly, they did not have their own armed force so they could not back up their words. Secondly, the league of nations did not include some of the three most powerful nations in the world. These nations were Russia, Germany, and the U.S.
